Defence: SOFEMA renews its shareholding and governance structure

Levallois-Perret, May 22, 2024The company can rely on its key managers to achieve its objectives

SOFEMA, a French leader in the sale of military equipment and aeronautical and ground spare parts, in France and abroad, announces the renewal of its governance following a change of shareholders. The company, which currently employs 85 people and is forecasting sales of €40 million for the 2023 financial year, is embarking on a real strategic shift with the arrival of new partners in the capital. Its goal is to achieve sales of 55M euros by 2024.

The start of a new chapter

SOFEMA, a leader in its field, is now almost entirely owned by THARROS HOLDING. This transition was made possible thanks to a fruitful collaboration between THARROS HOLDING and the ADIT Group, European leader in business intelligence.

On April 4, the ADIT Group became the majority shareholder in DCI (Défense Conseil International), taking over the 33.33% stake held by SOFEMA. The next and final step in the process was the takeover and immediate resale to THARROS HOLDING of 98.8 % of SOFEMA shares previously held by the sector's major industrial players: Airbus, Dassault Aviation, Naval Group, KNDS France, MBDA France, Thales and Safran.

THARROS HOLDING, now SOFEMA's majority shareholder, is run by a group of seasoned entrepreneurs who have themselves been SOFEMA employees for many years.

New management, new sales ambitions

SOFEMA's new management will be embodied by a tandem of complementary skills sharing a common vision. Frédéric TISSERAND, in addition to his position as Executive Vice-President, which he has held since 2007, becomes Chairman of the Board of Directors. As for Christian KAMARA, with SOFEMA since 2016 and formerly Sales Director, he succeeds Mr Guillaume Giscard d'Estaing as Managing Director.

After 17 years at the helm of the company, Mr. Giscard d'Estaing leaves behind a remarkable legacy, the fruit of a fruitful collaboration with Frédéric since 2007. Together, they have succeeded in repositioning SOFEMA in a growth cycle up to 2020. However, faced with an ever-changing economic context and the emergence of new international players, the time has come for a strategic review. Thus, under the leadership of the new management team, the company is resolutely repositioning itself on the domestic market, while developing new long-term strategic partnerships, both in France and internationally.

" The new management team embodies a harmonious balance between innovative vision and solid business expertise. In my person, I represent this fresh and daring view of the market, while Mr. TISSERAND brings with him proven experience and in-depth knowledge of our sector. Together, this fusion of ideas and know-how is the perfect ingredient to breathe new life into our company. We intend to capitalize on the company's 80 years of expertise, as well as on our tailor-made services, which make all the difference in the marketplace. It is in this synergy between tradition and innovation that we plan to write the next chapter in our history. "says Christian KAMARA, General Manager, SOFEMA.

SOFEMA will be taking advantage of its participation in Eurosatory, from June 17 to 21, to present not only its products, but also its new strategy and vision of the market.
