Armored vehicle protection and drone threat detection: A new French 100% configuration unveiled at Eurosatory 2026
Under the impetus of three SMEs in French industry, each a specialist in its own field (vehicle protection, optronics, anti-drone), the system S-KAPS Counter Drone enters the international scene.
The result of an unprecedented collaboration between LACROIX, Bertin Technologies and MC2 Technologies, This extension to the S-KAPS system redefines combat vehicle protection in the face of modern rooftop threats, and meets the critical challenges of today's theaters of operation.
Combining multi-sensor analysis and drone interception, This new SKAPS technological brick provides armored forces with a global, modular protection bubble, adapted to the asymmetrical threats of modern theaters of operation. The Counter Drone extension has been presented at major seminars and demonstrations since 2024. (France / DGA demo) and 2025 (Scorpion days, NATO demo, etc.).
Combining the specific sovereign expertise of our companies (all three members of GICAT and exhibitors at Eurosatory 2026), is also a further demonstration of the agility of the Defense Industrial and Technological Base (DITB) and the excellence of French solutions.

The heart of the system: S-KAPS by LACROIX
In 2016, Lacroix brought to market the first-generation S-KAPS system the AOS. This system automatically associated a suite of laser detectors with a masking system through a specific calculator.
Building on this experience, and in response to the new threats posed by current conflicts, LACROIX has developed a new version of the S-KAPS system, more incremental and adaptable to modern needs. This new version is based around a new-generation generic computer containing the protection algorithms. Depending on requirements, different types of sensors can be combined. Protection coverage can also be extended to hemispheric masking.
S-KAPS is available in many variants, the main ones being :
- S-KAPS COUNTER MISSILE, dedicated primarily to protection against laser-guided missiles
- S-KAPS COUNTER DRONE, dedicated to protection against drones
- S-KAPS GLOBAL PROTECTION, providing protection against a wide range of current battlefield threats.

To optimize the S-KAPS system against the drone threat, LACROIX has been working over the past two years to add technological detection bricks to counter the drone threat.
Complementing laser warning and acoustic detection (Metravib Pilar system), The SKAPS COUNTER DRONE version, presented at Eurosatory 2026, now includes :
A) The HADDES system from MC2 Technologies, a stand-alone RF sensor for drone detection or passive RF detector.

PeriSight Top Attack is a fully passive 360° infrared optronic detection solution designed to protect armored vehicles against the growing threat of drones. It ensures reliable detection of drones, including fiber-optic guided systems, even in hotly contested electronic warfare environments. Thanks to its compact design and modular architecture, this on-board system can be easily integrated into any armored vehicle. What's more, the system's automatic detection and tracking of moving targets reduces the crew's mental workload, enabling them to implement effective countermeasures.
